Games Consoles Go For Trivia Games online

All three major video games consoles have launched all new trivia games online  recently.

Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 and Wii have all released trivia games during the last few months.

Microsoft's trivia game for the Xbox 360 is called: "Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action", based on a popular trivia board game that has sold over 10 million copies since its original release in 2002. This a very visual game, even in the board game format which comes with a DVD to present the entertainment questions, the console game has some kind of visual to accompany most of its questions online .

Like trivia games online, Microsoft's version also keeps track of the questions to make sure that you are not asked the same question twice.

To add to the general game show experience, the games come with four big buzzers which is a very nice addition.

Sony has also released a trivia game title for its PlayStation called: "Buzz! The Mega Quiz". This game originates from the UK, known for producing high quality game shows like the weakest link and who wants to be a millionaire. Buzz is in its fifth version for British audiences, but now Sony has decided to take it on the international circuit and is releasing it in the US as well.

This game also comes with four buzzer type big buttons, and is also modeled after television game shows including the host and model.

The game play is interesting with strategy in play, not just answering a trivia quiz: you can steel points form the other player or even, get this: hit your opponents in the face with a pie. A bit bizarre for some people's tastes, but a lot of fun nonetheless.

Looks like the US version was adapted for its audience as far as the trivia questions as well, with questions targeting US players.

"Smarty Pants" is the title of EA's new trivia game for the Wii. It is much more basic than the other two console games and uses the regular Wii remote instead of the buzzer hardware provided with the Sony and MS versions.

The trivia game online has you spinning a category wheel to select the question to be asked and then pointing to the correct answer form multiple choices.

That's about it as far as the game-play goes, no added interest or strategy involved, or even nice graphics. This is more or less a run of the mill trivia quiz.

But unlike the other two games, this is the once that seems to have the best trivia questions in it, with several different categories, and questions that can get quite difficult, perhaps making it, surprisingly, the best option for real trivia lovers, and not just family entertainment seekers.

But in the end, if you're after serious trivia games online you will most likely find yourself in an online trivia games website – a games console is not where you will be looking. "Smarty Pants": http://www.ea.com/smartypants/

Leaving game console aside, there are many internet sites that let you play trivia games on line . some are general knowledge games or games i categories like history, music etc, and some are more specific, even about a book, like play harry potter trivia game , or about a specific TV show like play sex and the city trivia game
